16 July, 2010 - 18 July, 2010 Swanage, Dorset
Now in its twenty-first year, this popular festival offers the jazz enthusiast a range of styles, from New Orleans, Dixieland and swing to bebop, postbop and contemporary.
Jazz gigs are staged at a range of venues around this pretty seaside town, including three Marquees for headline events. Stroller tickets for the entire weekend cover everything except the Friday afternoon jazz cruise. Throughout the weekend there are free events in pubs throughout the town, a brass band parade and a church concert of spirituals and gospel music on Sunday morning.
The line-up for the 2009 Swanage Jazz Festival featured the best of British jazz, including artist in residence Alan Barnes, Sarah Moule, Don Weller, Art Themen, Mornington Lockett, the Gilad Atzmon Quartet, the John Maddocks Jazz Band, Andy Panayi, Bobby Wellins, Chris Biscoe, Liane Carroll and Clark Tracey. Jazz fans will be anticipating an equally strong line-up in 2010. |
